Macbeth - Our 4.1% signature ale, is robustly hopped with fuggles and
cascade hops. A bitter-sweet citrusy beer, which can be drunk on its own, or
with spicy foods.
Macbethad Mac Findlaich ruled Scotland for seventeen years (1040-1057).
During his reign, he even managed a pilgrimage to Rome, where he scattered
gold like seed to the poor. He was defeated by Malcolm Canmore, here, at
Lumphanan.
Broichan - Our dark, malty, 5.2% strong ale, with flavours of dark chocolate
and coffee. A traditional Scottish ale, perfect for fireside drinking with
cheese and oatcakes. (Broichan was a 6th century Pictish druid, or wiseman. His pagan beliefs brought him into conflict with St Columba. A battle of magic takes place between them near Loch Ness. Broichan’s magic may have been defeated, but Columba’s quest to convert the Picts to Christianity failed.
Nechtan - Our 4.1% American style pale ale. Brewed to celebrate the birthday of friend of the brewery, Ian Stewart. American hopes give the beer a refreshingly fruity aroma, with a dry bitter finish.
Deeside Brewery
Deeside Brewery are located in the heart of Royal Deeside,
Aberdeenshire. We are a stone’s throw from the River Dee, the natural
location for a brewery. The surrounding Grampian mountains provide the
inspiration for the original recipes and the pure, soft water of the
river is an essential ingredient in all our beers. Our beers take the
names of influential, but often overlooked, historic figures from the
area. Each is represented by ancient symbols found carved on Pictish
stones. They appear on all the pump clips and bottle labels, and each
beer has its own story to tell. We have relocated to a custom built
facility at Deeside Activity Park, near Aboyne.
